Student work: Trash Art

Today we had our first vernissage. Our team’s contribution was a Dreamcatcher made entirely of old bicycle parts. Our class assignment was to make art out of waste material. My team and I visited bicycle repair shops and asked for spare parts or old, broken parts. We were given gears, chains and a broken wheel. We tried different compositions, and having decided on one, we assembled all parts using wire. We wanted a mechanical look, but at the same time it had to look harmonious and peaceful.
